WHAT HAPPENS THE MATERIAL IN YOUR BROWN BIN?
The material in your brown bin is brought to a composting facility where it undergoes Windrow Composting. The organic material is left to decompose outdoors, aided only by watering and mechanical turning for aeration. This method is simple and non-intensive. It is the slowest large-scale method used to produce compost.

Please Note:
Currently the facility that your Brown bin waste is sent to has Windrow Composting. This method of composting is unsuitable for kitchen waste. When appropriate infractructure is put in place, all kichen/food waste will be allowed to go into the brown bin. You will be notified of any changes when they occur.
