The Client Service Unit provides all client side elements of the Technical Services Department functions of the Council. These include the management and support of the Council's operational services, the provision of waste management services, and the provision of a design and contract management service for projects initiated both by this department, and by other departments within the Council.

The Unit works closely with the Operational Services Unit (OSU). It also works closely with the Finance & Leisure Services and Administration & Community Services Departments with regard to the design and implementation of new projects.

For these departments, the Unit provides a complete design and construction service for selected projects, a clerk of works service for the vast majority of projects and a technical advice service when dealing with outside consultants. The Client Services section is currently involved in the development of approximately 30 capital projects and also reports to the Land and Property Committee.
