Castlereagh Community Safety Partnership in partnership with Castlereagh Council and the South Eastern Education & Library Board are funding a series of free ‘fun’ community events for young persons between the ages of 14 and 17, who reside in the Dundonald ,Ballybeen and Tullycarnet area during the summer months of July and August. The Hanwood Centre Tullycarnet along with Brooklands Youth Centre shall be the main venue’s for the varied programme of events which will include a sports taster programme with qualified coaches and local sports personalities,beauty,culture and identity education programme. A Kemp Stone sculpture project and gym session shall also be part of the programme along with a bowling event at Dundonald International Ice Bowl.
The programme of activates is aimed at reducing anti social behaviour in the above mentioned area’s including Moat Park and is focused at discouraging underage drinking , antisocial behaviour along with the unauthorised use of scramlers/quads. Teenager’s participating shall be given an educational awareness session on the negative effects of alcohol and drugs and will be involved in a general tidy up / litter pick in their local area.
