The Mayor of Castlereagh Councillor Lawrence Walker hoisted the flag over the Civic Offices in support of Armed Forces Day; also showing their support were Councillor Cecil Hall, Director of Administration and Community Services Joan McCoy, Director of Finance Edward Patterson, Councillor Jim White and Deputy Mayor of Castlereagh, Councillor Michael Copeland.
The Mayor of Castlereagh, Councillor Lawrence Walker this morning hoisted the flag over the Civic Offices in support of Armed Forces Day, which takes place on 26 June 2010.
Speaking at the event, the Mayor said “I am delighted to be able to demonstrate our recognition of, and appreciation for, the contribution our brave service men and women make on a daily basis during their military service.”
The Mayor was joined by his Chaplain Rev Paul Linkens, fellow Councillors, Council Officers and Members of the Cregagh, Wandsworth and Ormeau Royal British Legion. The flag hoisting ceremony at Castlereagh Civic Centre was held in conjunction with simultaneous hoisting events throughout the United Kingdom.
