Important Public Information Notice

THE DOGS (N IRELAND) ORDER 1983

With effect from Tuesday 1 June 2010 Castlereagh Borough Council will be changing the service provider of its dog kennelling facilities.

Dogs will no longer be held at the old site at Drumview Road (off Hillsborough Road), Carryduff but instead all stray and unwanted dogs will from that date be kennelled at:

Lisburn City Council Dog Pound
Altona Road
Lisburn

Lisburn City Council E/Health Dog Control 92509396

Dog Pound opening Hours for reclaiming stray dogs:

Monday Friday 12.30pm 2.30pm

In exceptional circumstances it may be possible to reclaim dogs outside these hours by special arrangement with Lisburn City Council staff.
Please telephone Lisburn City Council on (028) 92509396 and they will see if it is possible to offer an alternative time.
It should be remembered however that this might not be possible due to other operational commitments by the Dog Warden.

Reclaim fees:

If your dog has been seized and impounded the following reclaim fees will apply and must be paid in full before the dog will be released to you.

1st day = 20
2nd day = 28
3rd day = 36
4th day = 44
5th day = 52
6th day = 60

Please note that if you do not hold a current valid dog licence you will have to apply for one before the dog can be released to you. This can be done at the Pound while collecting the dog and the licence, which costs an additional 5.00, will be valid for 1 year and will be posted out to the keeper.
