Human Resources


The Human Resources (HR) section, part of the Administration and Community Services Department, has a wide-ranging remit, covering recruitment and retention, equal opportunities, health and safety, training and development, employment legislation, occupational health, counselling and employee well-being, among other areas of work.

HR has a central role to play in the delivery of the Council's aim of being a best practice employer as well as an employer of choice and how the section will contribute to the achievement of the orgainsation's overall goals between now and 2009 is detailed in a Human Resources Plan, which is downloadable below.

The policies, practices and procedures developed are mainly in relation to:
  • Recruitment and Selection
  • Employee Relations
  • Performance Management
  • Training and Development
  • Attendance
  • Discipline and Grievance
  • Health and Safety
Human Resources are responsible for communicating these policies, practices and procedures to all members of staff and ensuring that these are followed in order to prevent discrimination and provide a fair and consistent approach to how staff are selected, managed, promoted and trained within the Council.

The Human Resource Manager is supported by two Human Resource Advisors and two Human Resource Administrators. The Human Resource Department welcome any comments or suggestions in relation to the service provided and can be contacted at the address below:
