Equality Scheme
Section 75 and Schedule 9 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 places a statutory obligation on Public Authorities to carry out all their functions with due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity and have regard to the desirability of promoting good relations.
To implement this obligation the Council produced an Equality Scheme which was approved by the Equality Commission. This scheme outlines a plan for ensuring that consideration of equality issues is central to policy formulation and decision-making within the Council.
