Environmental Health
WELCOME TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SERVICE UNIT
The Environmental Health Service Unit is one of four Service Units under the directorate of Technical and Environmental Services. The Service Unit is headed by Mr Richard Harvey, the Environmental Health Acting Manager and supported by a team of Professional Officers, Enforcement Officers and Administrative Officers.
The Environmental Health Service Unit must take into account the Council's core values and strategic aims in delivering its overall aim which is
"to protect human health and sustain the environment, reducing the risks associated with the living and working environment."
This aim is achieved by a combination of enforcement and regulation, education and awareness, and by working in partnership with businesses and organisations across the Borough. The Service Unit's performance and activities can be viewed in more detail in the Service Unit's Annual Business Plan (LINK)
All of the activities carried out by the Environmental Health Service Unit are split into 6 Core Functions, namely:
- Food Hygiene
- Health and Safety
- Consumer Protection
- Licensing and Dog Control
- Pollution Control
- Public Health and Housing
