Community Services

Castlereagh Borough Council operates one of the largest Community Services departments in Northern Ireland. Development services and community support provided by the Department take a variety of forms.

A number of full time staff are employed to work in the Community Development across the borough and in addition to this a number of specialist areas of work including sports developments, arts development and community relations.

Existing Community Centres

Castlereagh Borough Council operates 8 community centres at Ballybeen, Ballyoran, Braniel, Dungoyne, Clonduff, Cregagh, Downshire, Moneyreagh and Tullycarnet. The centres offer a varied and interesting range of activities within the local community including a range of recreational, educational and training programmes.

New Community Centres

In addition, the council has committed capital expenditure to build on a new centre in Enler, Ballybeen.

Community Resources

The Community Services Department also provides a minibus that is available for use by properly constituted community groups and schools within the borough.

In addition, a Community Resource Centre provides items of equipment on loan for clubs, associations and groups. The department also offers typing and photocopying services for community based organisations.

The department also provides summer schemes which are held annually at ten venues throughout the Borough and offers a varied and interesting programme of activities providing many hours of enjoyment for the young people of the borough.
